Welcome and bienvenidos a todos to the 4th Annual Saltillo Day! This year, we will come together virtually, to enjoy a varied program of events that celebrate the friendship between Austin, Texas and Saltillo, Mexico. Enjoy the following remarks:

Straight from Saltillo, Mexico, Talento Experienced, a group of young theater & musical performers led by Cesar Alonso, delight us with a Mariachi music and dance experience.

The event celebrates Mexico's most beloved songs and invite you to learn more about the Mariachi phenomenon.

Join teachers and students from Austin and Saltillo for a panel discussion to initiate on planning for the upcoming Virtual Intercambio- Education and Cultural Exchange. Anyone is welcome to tune in and attend the panel discussion on Zoom. The event was moderated by Lori Renteria, 1st Lady of District 3, Austin City Council and Chair of the Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Education Committee.

Enjoy this educational how-to-video on how to make Enchiladas Muy Sabrosas! Chef Marcela Davila will walk you though the preparation of this popular dish. An Enchilada is a corn tortilla rolled around a filling and covered with a savory sauce, an important staple of Mexican Cuisine. Provecho!


Explore the rich wine landscape of Saltillo’s neighboring town, Parras de la Fuente, home to the oldest winery in the Americas: renowned Casa Madero.

Tune in to view the extensive art collection of the Austin Friends of Folk Art. AFFA is dedicated to the knowledge, promotion and preservation of folk arts and world cultures. Founded in 1987 by a small but enthusiastic band of culturally curious explorers, AFFA has carried out its activities as a non-profit educational organization since 1988.


Saltillo Mayor, Manolo Jiménez Salinas, is a great friend and supporter of the flourishing relationship between Austin, Texas and Saltillo, Mexico. In observation of the 4th Annual Saltillo Festival in Austin, this year, online, he delivers some important remarks.

Enjoy the premiere of Clay Imports Saltillo Tile Making short film by Jane Yang. This video features century old tile making techniques and highlights one of Saltillo’s most distinguishable crafts: handmade terra-cotta tile.


In collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico, the Austin-Saltillo Sister Cities Association, the City of Austin, Univision, and Saltillo's Comité Internacional de Ciudades Hermanas, Austin’s annual "Fiesta de El Grito de Independencia" is a musical celebration and historical re-enactment of Mexico’s call for independence from Spain in 1810. This year, the event will take place online. You are invited to enjoy the show live from anywhere in the world!

Special programming includes Mexican and Tejano music, Folklorico Dancers, and more. The highlight of the evening is the re-enactment of “El Grito”, by the Honorable Pablo Marentes, Cónsul General de México which was televised on Univision during their News Hour at 10PM. Viva Mexico!
